The $100-million New Orleans East Hospital demonstrates a high degree of resilient planning and design and provides comprehensive medical care and new economic opportunity in an underserved area of the city.

To deliver the most efficient design for the 80-bed hospital, Manning worked closely with engineers, contractors, and sub-contractors, adjusting architectural features to realize cost savings or other benefits. This required close, collaborative decision making. Through the process, Manning was able to increase productivity, ensure quality and sustainability features, and to respond to specific local market conditions. One feature of Manning Architect’s strategy was developing and maintaining a coordinated list of potential savings from all disciplines.

The joint venture of Manning Architects and Eskew+Dumez+Ripple (MA/EDR), in association with WHLC Architecture, was awarded two levels of recognition for project: the 2015 American Institute of Architects New Orleans Merit Award and the 2015 United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Louisiana Excellence in Sustainability Award, which praised the campus design, clinical facility design, and urban management and sustainability efforts.
